Employment
Mass Center for the Book is not currently hiring. Employment opportunities will be posted here, when available.
Internships
Unpaid, for-credit internships are available in the fall and spring semesters. Interns contribute to all aspects of MCB programming, including Letters About Literature and the Massachusetts Book Awards, and aid in preparations for our public events. If interested, please email us at info@massbook.org.
Volunteer Opportunities
Open volunteer roles will be announced as they become available both on this page and via our newsletter. While we are not able to offer administrative volunteer opportunities at this time, those who are interested in volunteering at MCB events to share our mission with the public should sign up for our newsletter by scrolling to the bottom of the page.
OPEN CALL: Speakers Bureau Event Volunteers
Are you interested in helping the Massachusetts Center for the Book forward its mission of promoting unrestricted access to books and reading? MCB is looking for outgoing volunteers to share our mission at our Mass Book Awards Speakers Bureau events. Those with an enthusiasm for networking and an ability to speak on the importance of literacy initiatives would be a great fit for this volunteer role.
Our Speakers Bureau readings connect Mass Book Award winners and honorees with libraries and cultural organizations throughout the state, however as a smaller organization we are not able to attend every author event. Volunteers will attend the event on behalf of MCB, hand out promotional materials for our programs, collect sign ups for our newsletter and social media, take photographs, and write up a brief event recap after each event.
We will provide volunteers with a volunteer training packet, promotional materials, and an email introduction to the event partner and author ahead of the event.
We are seeking volunteers for the following events. Please only apply if you can attend the specific date and time of the event and have a reliable transportation plan to get there. Volunteers may apply to attend more than one event. Applications for spring events will go out in January.
