Leonard Baskin, a sculptor and printmaker, founded the Gehenna Press in 1942, as a student at Yale.  In 1955, he moved the press to Northampton, Massachusetts, and it became one of America’s foremost fine presses.  Books published by Gehenna often included etchings and illustrations by Baskin, who died in Northampton in 2000.
