Emily Dickinson Museum, Dickinson Homestead & The Evergreens
Emily Dickinson was born in the Dickinson family house 1830. The family moved for part of her childhood but returned to the house when she was 15. She lived here until her death in 1886, and wrote almost 1800 poems and over 1000 letters while living at the house. She is buried in the nearby West Cemetery.
The Emily Dickinson Museum includes the Dickinson Homestead and The Evergreens, where Emily’s brother Austin and his wife Susan lived. It is open from March through mid-December. Tours are usually given from Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours vary throughout the year, and the updated schedule is available at the museum’s website.
