Arrowhead, a farmhouse built in 1780, was Herman Melville’s home from 1850 until 1863, and he continued to visit through the 1880s. Melville wrote some of his most famous works, including Moby Dick (1851), at Arrowhead, and some of its architectural features and views are incorporated in his writing.

Now restored and furnished with Melville family artifacts, Arrowhead is open daily from Memorial Day Weekend to Halloween, with hourly tours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
